Two very different business applications are taking shape
Since the last update Salix Monitor 360 has mostly been left alone, which is exactly what I wanted. It is live, running normally and waiting for me to put some proper marketing behind it. Most of my development time has instead gone into Willow Client Desk and the Willow Compliance Platform.
They solve very different problems but both have moved a long way in a short time. Client Desk is growing into a configurable day-to-day business system while Compliance Platform is becoming a much deeper working environment for compliance and risk teams in Jersey and Guernsey.
Where things stand now
Client Desk
In active development. The core business workflows are working and the platform is now being expanded around business-type setup, invoicing, payments and optional modules. It is being built for Jersey, Guernsey and UK businesses.
Compliance Platform
In heavy active development, with a live demo available now. The current focus is strengthening evidence, approvals, audit trails, risk and governance workflows for Jersey and Guernsey compliance teams.
Salix Monitor 360
Live in production and being left to do its job. The immediate focus is marketing and bringing in customers, with a companion-app review and smaller refinements planned when time allows.
Client Desk is turning into a seriously useful business toolkit
Client Desk started as a practical way to bring customer work, projects, approvals and communication together. It is now becoming something much broader: a modular operating platform that can be shaped around the kind of business that is actually using it.
The important bit is that a plumbing business should not have to work through the same setup as an accountancy practice or a retailer. During setup the business can choose its business type and Client Desk can select the corresponding modules and plugins as a sensible starting point. Extra functionality can then be enabled when it is useful rather than forcing every customer to carry around every feature.
Choose the business type, then build around it
Trades and field services
A plumber or similar service business might centre its workspace on customers, quotations, jobs, work orders, inspections, sign-off and invoicing.
Professional services
An accountancy or professional-services business can put more emphasis on client onboarding, approvals, secure document requests, projects, time recording and invoicing.
Retail and stock-led businesses
A retail or stock-led business can use customer and commercial tools alongside stock, inventory and stock-taking workflows without loading up unrelated field-service features.
The commercial core is already substantial
The aim is to cover the everyday flow of work in one place rather than making a small business stitch together half a dozen disconnected systems.
- Customers, contacts, quotations, projects, jobs and work orders
- Invoicing with payment options for bank transfer, PayPal and CityPay
- Businesses connect and configure their own PayPal and CityPay accounts where those payment services are used
- Inspections, generic approvals and digital sign-off
- Structured client onboarding and offboarding
- Secure file requests, forms, knowledge, time recording and shared calendars
- Optional stock, inventory and stock-taking functionality
- Automations, reporting, API access and webhooks for businesses that need more integration
That range is what makes Client Desk interesting. It is not meant to be a huge fixed CRM where every business sees the same pile of menus. The goal is to let a business choose what it is, switch on what it needs and end up with a useful working system that actually fits the way it operates.
Client Desk availability
Willow Client Desk is being built only for businesses in Jersey, Guernsey and the United Kingdom. It is not offered for businesses in France or in other countries.
Compliance Platform is being built around Jersey and Guernsey teams
The Willow Compliance Platform has had a very different development cycle. This is not intended to be a generic global compliance package. It is being built specifically for businesses with compliance and risk teams working in Jersey and Guernsey, with the focus on organising the work, evidence and oversight those teams deal with every day.
A lot of the recent work has been about making the platform more defensible and more useful when someone needs to understand what happened, who approved it and what evidence supported the decision. That means stronger validation, clearer lifecycle rules and much more attention to evidential integrity rather than simply adding more screens.
Built around real compliance and risk work
- Risk registers, controls, assessments, remediation and structured review workflows
- Evidence Packs with stronger approval snapshots and verification so approved evidence can be reproduced and checked
- Supplier assurance, governance workflows and regulatory-change tracking
- Registers and jurisdiction-aware records with tighter validation and better data integrity
- Control testing, working papers, approvals and audit histories designed to leave a clear trail
- Reporting and management information for compliance, risk and governance teams
- AI governance and assisted functionality where it can help organise work without replacing professional judgement
The platform is still in heavy development and I am deliberately spending a lot of time on regression testing, awkward edge cases and workflow integrity. Compliance software has to do more than look polished. Records, approvals and evidence need to behave consistently when they are reviewed later.
There is already a live demo to play with
Although development is still moving quickly, an active live demo version of the Compliance Platform is already available. That means Jersey and Guernsey businesses can explore the application properly, move around the workflows and get a feel for how the platform could fit into a real compliance or risk function rather than relying on a list of features or screenshots.
It is still a developing product and it is not legal advice. The point of the demo is to make the direction of the platform tangible while the deeper workflow and integrity work continues.
Compliance Platform availability
The Willow Compliance Platform is available only for the Jersey and Guernsey jurisdictions. It is not available for the United Kingdom or for any other country.
Meanwhile Salix Monitor 360 is doing exactly what it should
Salix Monitor 360 has not had another huge development sprint since the last blog update. I have deliberately left the live service running while my attention has been on the two newer applications. It is there, it is monitoring and it is ready for customers.
I will come back to some of the companion-app and usability work when I have time but Salix has reached the point where endlessly adding features is less important than actually marketing it and getting people using what is already there.
Three products at three different stages
So that is the current Willow picture. Salix Monitor 360 is live and needs customers more than it needs another giant feature list. Client Desk is expanding quickly into a modular business platform that can suit very different kinds of company. Compliance Platform is still being developed heavily but already has a live demo and a much clearer identity around the needs of Jersey and Guernsey compliance and risk teams.
There is plenty more to do on both of the newer applications but they are no longer just ideas in a notebook. They are becoming proper working products and I am looking forward to seeing how far they can go.
